God's Grace and Mercies

Hi all!

This is a new blog that is specially dedicated to the 9 layered cake that I had a few moments ago. I have been thinking for a long time of a suitable title for a new blog to note down all the miracles that I have experienced in SOT (School of Theology) when I wondered about this 9 layered cake.

For those who have not eaten this before, this is basically a cake with 9 colored layers, sort of like a rainbow. each layer is equally delicious and when each individual taste comes together to form a collective taste, it is heavenly!

And then it hit me! there are exactly 9 gifts and 9 fruits of the Holy Spirit. The gifts are knowledge, wisdom, prophecy, faith, healings, miracles, discerning of spirits, tongues and intepretation of tongues. In SOT this year I have experienced these 9 things in one way or other but have yet to note any of it down. Which is why I feel this blog, like the rainbow of God's covenant,  would be a perfect platform to edify and testify of God's goodness and grace in our lives.

In particular, I have been exercising the gift of prophecy and to my surprise, the HS has actually used me in a mighty way to edify others , some even to tears. To some this may not be a big deal but to me it is! This is as all my life I always have the feeling that I am sinner and I lack the spiritual maturity to go to the next level. Never in my life have I encouraged others to the point where they actually receive something back. Sincere thanks to Pastor Ming for challenging us to prophecy more to each other and I will continue to do so and give you guys daily updates of who I prophecy as I plan to do one every SOT day! This is to edify and encourage you all that if God can use a nobody like me, He can use you to! A verse has been brought forth to me regarding this

“Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy.” (1 Corinthians 14:39)

In first Corinthians 14 it says
Pursue love, and tearnestly desire the uspiritual gifts, especially that you may vprophesy. For wone who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation. The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church. Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but xeven more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up

Another notion of the number 9 in the Bible is the 9 fruits of the Holy Spirit. These are basically the characteristics of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. That is what I hope this blog will achieve to readers out there, to bring these 9 qualities to the life of anyone who stumbles on this blog, be it a believer or not.I do also believe that God gives us the gifts so that we can edify others with encouragement to have the fruits!

So I do hope you will continue to encourage me as well by commenting and leaving your thoughts as my objective is truly to build a community of faith where people can be encouraged, comforted and inspired to build upon the gifts that they have in order to bring about the fruits and embark on a life with 9 layers of blessing! To end off, I would like to tell you about an incident during my brother's wedding. You see the sisters actually put wasabi in between layers of the cake which made it really quite a challenge to eat. However, with the spirit of brotherhood intact, we managed to finish it. Why? because we wanted to sacrifice for our groom but on a more deeper note, we desired the 9 layers of blessing, even if it means we have to endure abit of trials along the way. Ultimately, it was worth the sacrifice as we got to see my brother Happily Married and living a blessed life! In the same way I hope this blog will edify you to a blessed life as well!

Blessed to be a blessings,
Daniel Foo
